When I help a customer choose a pouch packaging machine, I rarely start with the machine model. I start with the product, the pouch, and the production target. That is because a packaging machine can look perfect on paper and still perform poorly if the filling system does not match the material or if the pouch is difficult to feed.

I divide the working process into several simple stages because it makes troubleshooting much easier.
The finished pouches are placed into the pouch magazine. The automatic pouch feeder separates individual pouches and transfers them into the packaging cycle.
This step is more important than it may look.
Different pouches have different surface friction, thickness, stiffness, zipper structures, and material combinations. A very soft pouch can behave differently from a stiff aluminum foil pouch. A stand-up pouch can also behave differently from a flat pouch.
That is why I recommend testing the customer's actual pouch rather than relying only on a drawing or photograph.
Once the pouch reaches the working station, it needs to be positioned correctly and opened.
The opening mechanism must hold the pouch without damaging the material. At the same time, it must create enough opening space for the filling nozzle.
The PLC control system coordinates the timing between these actions. Servo mechanisms can also be used for controlled movement where accurate positioning is required.

After filling, the pouch moves to the sealing station.
The sealing process uses controlled heat and pressure to close the pouch mouth. The correct settings depend on the pouch film structure. A good seal is not simply a matter of increasing temperature.
If the temperature is too low, the seal may be weak. If it is too high, the pouch material can be damaged. Sealing pressure and dwell time also matter.
Product contamination is another issue. If powder, sauce, or paste reaches the sealing area, it can affect the final seal.
Once sealing is complete, the finished pouch leaves the packaging machine and can move to a conveyor, Checkweigher, inspection station, carton packing system, or another downstream process.

For granules, I check particle shape, size, density, and flow behavior. Nuts, seeds, and irregular snacks can move differently through a hopper.
For powders, I pay close attention to flowability and dust. Some powders flow easily, while others can bridge inside a hopper or create dust around the pouch opening.
For liquids, viscosity and foaming are important. A thin liquid may need a different nozzle shut-off design from a thick sauce.
For pastes and gels, I look at how the product starts and stops flowing. If the product keeps hanging from the nozzle after filling, it can reach the sealing area and affect package quality.
This is why product testing is an important part of our equipment selection process. I would rather test the material than make a guess based on its name.
